Good afternoon, Toñín. Thank you very much for granting us this interview. To start, we would like to know a little more about your journey in the world of representation and football. What led you to embark on this adventure?

Hello! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story. From a very young age, football has been a passion for me. I have always been fascinated by the game and wanted to be involved in it in some way. As I grew up, I realized that my true passion was in helping players reach their full potential. So, I decided to become a football agent to be able to work directly with them and guide their careers.

We understand that you have worked in renowned multinational agencies before establishing your own agency, «Transfer Football Management.» What motivated you to take this step and found your own agency?

Working in those agencies gave me great experience and knowledge about the industry. However, I felt that I could do more and make an even greater difference in the lives of the players. I wanted the freedom to focus on their individual needs and create personalized market opportunities for them. Founding my own agency allowed me to do that and make decisions based on my vision and values.

One of your key skills is talent identification. Tell us more about your approach and how you manage to have a deep understanding of what the market demands.

For me, talent identification is not just about seeing a player’s skills on the field. It is a meticulous and detailed process that involves understanding the specific needs and requirements of clubs. I travel extensively, visiting clubs across Europe to learn about their working methods and the player profiles they are looking for. This gives me a deep understanding of what the market demands and helps me find the right players to meet those demands.

You have achieved notable successes in guiding the careers of players who have undergone a remarkable transition in their professional trajectory. Could you share with us an example and how you achieved these signings?

Certainly, one of the most notable examples is the case of Luiyi de Lucas. Luiyi was a player who was previously limited to the fifth category in Spain, but through our joint work, we managed to propel his career to the Scottish Premiership. The key was establishing a strong relationship with Livingston FC in Scotland. For a year, we maintained constant contact, providing them with all the necessary information about the player and establishing credibility. In the end, our focus on collaboration and teamwork made Luiyi their preferred choice over other players.

In addition to securing contracts for the players, you also focus on finding the best environment for their professional growth. What challenges does this aspect of your work entail and how do you address them?

Undoubtedly, finding the right environment for players’ professional growth is a constant challenge. Each player has individual needs and circumstances, and it is my responsibility to ensure they are in a context that allows them to reach their full potential. This involves carefully evaluating the available options, analyzing different clubs and leagues, and considering factors such as playing style, coach, and the team as a whole. I work closely with the players to understand their goals and needs, and together we chart the path to follow.

At the end of each season, you hold strategic meetings with your players to assess their performance and determine the markets to target in the upcoming transfer windows. Can you tell us a bit more about this process and how you ensure everyone works together as a team?

Yes, at the end of each season, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation with each player. We analyze their performance throughout the season, evaluate their progress, and discuss their future goals and aspirations. From there, we work together to determine the markets to target in the upcoming transfer windows. It is important to me that players feel secure and confident in their path, and that can only be achieved if we work as a team. I encourage personal connections and avoid a commission-based approach to create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration.

We have read that in your agency, «Transfer Football Management,» you have a prominent policy of avoiding recruiting players through material purchases or gifts. Could you explain more about this policy and why it is important to you?

Yes, that’s correct. I firmly believe in avoiding superficial relationships based on self-interest. I don’t want players to join my agency just for the gifts or material benefits they can receive. Instead, I focus on providing them with essential tools and services that truly help them grow as valuable professionals. For me, a player’s success is not based on the gift of a pair of football boots, but on a comprehensive approach, a management strategy tailored to their individual needs.

Lastly, we would like to hear your perspective on your journey in football representation so far and how you differentiate yourself in an industry that is often associated with controversy.

My journey in football representation has been exciting and full of learning. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to work with talented players and help them achieve their dreams. I believe that my personalized and fair approach is what sets me apart in this industry. I deeply care about the players and their development both on and off the field. Establishing relationships based on trust, collaboration, and teamwork is crucial to me. I want to break the stereotype of a business solely focused on commissions and build a positive reputation around football representation.

Toñín, it has been a pleasure talking to you and learning more about your work in football representation. We wish you much success in your career and with «Transfer Football Management» agency.

Thank you very much for the interview and for your interest in my work. It has been a pleasure to share my experience. I appreciate your well wishes and look forward to continuing to help players reach their full potential in professional football.
