Diego, thank you for being here with us. What motivated you to dedicate yourself to environmental conservation?

Since a young age, I have always had a great passion for nature and caring for the environment. I had the opportunity to travel and visit different parts of the world, which allowed me to see the beauty and fragility of the planet. I wanted to do something to preserve it and that led me to focus on the conservation and protection of species that inhabit our planet.

How did the idea of «Refugio Salvaje» come about?

As a bird lover, I have always been interested in the protection of endangered species, especially the Golden Eagle, the national bird of Mexico. In 2015, I decided to start a project to protect it and with the support of the private sector and the government, we were able to create «Refugio Salvaje,» a conservation center within the Reino Animal Park in Teotihuacán. Currently, we are protecting about 40 birds of different species and we hope to continue expanding our work in favor of conservation.

In addition to «Refugio Salvaje,» you are also the founder of Arterra. Can you tell us a little more about this company?

Arterra is a company that specializes in the design of large-scale natural spaces for landscaping and outdoor projects. Under my direction, we have developed important projects ranging from the redesign of ranches adapted to sustainable practices, the construction of artificial lakes and irrigation systems, to the creation of habitable spaces that respect the environment without sacrificing the luxury and comfort that characterize these types of buildings.

You are recognized as a talented photographer. How does nature inspire your photographic work?

Nature is my constant source of inspiration. I love capturing unique moments of nature, including landscapes, animals, underwater life, and photomicrography. Underwater life photographs, particularly those taken in the majestic Sea of Cortez on the Mexican coast, are an example of the beauty of our planet. In addition, my passion for African wildlife has led me to capture impressive photographs that show the magnificence of fauna in their natural habitat.

Finally, what message would you like to leave to people who want to contribute to environmental conservation?

My message is simple: each of us has a responsibility to care for our planet. We cannot wait for others to do it for us. Every small action counts, from recycling to the use of renewable energies. We can all do something to contribute to the care of the environment and thus ensure a more sustainable future for future generations.

Thank you very much for coming, Diego, it has been a real pleasure.
